Achtung:
In der Windowsversion wird jetzt Turbo JPEG statt JPEG Lib verwendet. Ich habe das nach den Kommentaren hier im Forum mal "auf die Schnelle" eingebaut, aber nicht gründlich getestet.

Ich habe mit einem anderen Thema — SVG mit SVGs drin laden → klappt ausgezeichnet → DANKE! — einfach mal mit dem Webexport „rumgespielt“ und frage mich, ob JPEG überhaupt noch ein zweckmäßiges Format für mich ist (wenn verlustbehaftet keine Rolle spielt – was bei mir primär der Fall ist):

Bei gleicher Kompression ist JPEG mehr als doppelt so groß wie WebP und hat mehr Artefakte (ich weiß, das hinkt, doch mein Fokus liegt auf „erforderlicher Speicherplatz für angezeigte Qualität bei gleicher Darstellungsgröße“).

EIN konkreter Versuch ist zweifellos keine statistisch belastbare Aussage. Ich habe auch versäumt, das mit der vorherigen JPEG-Bibliothek auszuprobieren. Es bestätigt dennoch meinen wachsenden Eindruck der letzten Jahre.

Einer der wenigen Gründe, weshalb JPEG noch gebraucht wird, ist z.B. das Forum hier, das die Anzeige von WebP verweigert.

Zum Vergleich: Das angezeigte PNG hier: 58kB, WebP 39kB, JPG 117kB. WebP und JPEG jeweils unkomprimiert, unterstellend, das sei „pixeltreu“, wobei JPEG allerdings trotzdem die Transparenz verliert.

Solche Grafiken speichert man meiner Erfahrung nach am Besten als farbreduziertes PNG (Modus "Beste Farbe", Palette "Optimiert MedianCut"). Oft kommt man mit 64 Farben aus, 256 reichen fast immer. Und es ergibt scharfe Bilder ohne irgendwelche Kompressionsartefakte.

When saving a png, sometimes you can use 8 or even 4 colors if you select From Image on the Palette tab. (Of course it depends on the image. You need extra colors if there is anti-aliasing.) Also select Don't Dither Transparency.

Full-Screen Behavior different in 23.90b7

In 23.90b7 beta, the side panels disappear when fullscreen mode is engaged with fn+F. On my system, PL is configured with a customized General toolbar on the left of the screen with various info stacked below. On the right is a customized stacked panel with picture info, map, actions, adjustment layer, undo list and layers.

In this version and the last version I am having issues with my Wacom tablet:
- trying to operate scrollbars is a hit and miss affair. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not. Sometimes I start dragging, and then PhotoLine stops registering the drag action and stops.

- drawing response is the same: it may no draw at all, it may draw a dot or a short line, or it will draw correctly.

I set up the forward pen button for the middle mouse button to pan the view. Often it works, but sometimes it does not. Or it will stop in the middle of panning the view.

I checked in other applications, and only in PhotoLine do I experience these issues.

It is as if something interrupts the Wacom tracking in PhotoLine. It seems random, but it is very frequent. So frequent that I can no longer draw in PhotoLine. It happens all the time. Sometimes it takes three or four tries before I am able to draw the intended line.

I don't notice any problems with scrollbars or panning (might have to do with unstable bluetooth connection? Or connected via cable?), but pen pressure doesn't work at all for me (Wacom Intuos Pro).

Brush size/ opacity always stays the same, regardless of pen pressure. Tried to activate/ deactivate Windows Ink in the Wacom tablet settings, makes no difference. No problems with pen pressure in other apps.

Well, that's on purpose. Different macOS versions behaved differently when switching to full screen mode: Some versions hid the help dialogs, others did not. Therefore I have unified the behavior.

If it is generally preferred that the help dialogs remain visible after entering full screen, I can of course change that accordingly.

On my MacBook Pro with macOS 11.7.4, since I replaced PhotoLine 23.90b6 with b7, every time I open a document from finder and PhotoLine is not running, I got attention massage that asks me to confirm the opening of the PhotoLine application for the first time. This happens even if I make a double click on the document, or if I try to open the document with a right click and choose PhotoLine in contextual menu. No help by pressing option or other modifier keys.
The strange thing (for me) is that I didn't get the message if I open directly the PhotoLine application, either opening it from the dock or double-clicking the application.

P.S.: This behaviour didn't happen on my MacPro with macOS 10.15.7

P.P.S. I replaced b7 with b6 on MacBook Pro, and the issue disappeared. After some tries, I replaced again b6 with b7, and the issue didn't come back. So, I don't understand what was happened, but anything it triggered this issue, it's gone...

Die Änderungen der UI gefallen mir.

Eine Idee: Ihr habt ja die Panorama Funktion entwickelt. Die kann, wenn ich das richtig sehe, Ebenen in Farbe und Form an andere Ebenen angleichen. In PS kann man die Panorama Funktion dazu verwenden, Overlays, wie z.b. eine anderes Gesicht, in ein Bild einzubauen und dabei farblich angleichen. Habt Ihr schon erwogen, Eure Implementation auch dafür zu optimieren? (Meiner Meinung macht dies sogar mehr Sinn als reine Panoramas, da es dafür ziemlich eine beeindruckende Spezialsoftware gibt: ICE)

Ich glaube so viel fehlt gar nicht, es muss aber abschaltbar sein, dass die obere Ebene zum Teil gelöscht wird. Im Grunde muss "nur" die Farbe angeglichen werden.

On my 27" monitor, editing a smaller image with full screen turned off results in part of the previous desktop showing through in the unoccupied spaces in PL. It is very distracting when editing. If calling PL from a DAM, for example, one has to look at thumbnails in addition to the small image in PL.

I vote for user option in preferences for auto hide panels in fullscreen mode.
Some users prefer to work in fullscreen mode, so for them it is better to see panels when switch to fullscreen mode.
Other users work in normal window mode and quickly switch to fullscreen only to look at image on solid background, so for them it is better to auto hide panels.

You can maximize the document window by double-clicking its title bar. The next document window that opens will then be maximized automatically. This way you avoid seeing the desktop without using the full screen mode.

Some people set double-click to window title bar to hide window inside dock, so it is not a universal option.
To maximize window it is always possible simply hold "Alt" (you will see that full screen icon inside green window button changed to "+" sign) and press to that green window button.

I asked earlier here viewtopic.php?p=47964#p47964 to have maximize button as default instead of fullscreen button (or better add user option toggle in preferences), but with new logic when PhotoLine remember maximized window state and opens all new windows maximized, there is no need to press that maximize button too often. Very nice!
