Can we show the attachment size on the index page??

Postby greenmorpher » Wed 22 Aug 2012 19:03

hello Hubers

Can you show the maximum attachment size in the index page? I was working on some pix in PL and having awoken in the middle of the night, I bethought me to post an example for the entertainment and (perhaps!) enlightenment of other forum members.

But then I thought -- bummer. 10 to 1 if I format a picture it will reject it because the size is a pixel too large or something -- and I don’t remember what size is correct. And in the middle of the night, I really don’t want to be messing around having posts rejected and needing to resize pix.

Can you tell us what the size is in the index page for each forum please? it would make posting much more convenient.

Best regards

Excellent idea. Sometimes, it's a frustrating experience to have to figure the limits by trial and error. First, you're told that the size limit is 128 KB, and after retrying, it tells you that an image can be at most 1024 px wide and 768 px high. It should also list the permitted file types.

Maybe a sticky topic "Permitted attachments" in each of the forums would be enough, or maybe it would be possible to display restrictions when one clicks the "Upload attachment" tab.

Cheers

Burkhard.

A sticky topic, of course. Best to have that so you can look it up beforehand. No good going to upload, then getting the limits -- I like to have my things formatted beforehand.

Cheers, geoff
