PANTONE, FOCOLTONE... color definitions

Hi,

is anybody interested how to get ALL color definitions from ALL color libraries. I have all of them but I CAN NOT give to anybody because of my "signature" in the "file properties". I can explain how to do it for yourself.

Here is the procedure:

QuarkXPress
Copy Quark "*.qcl" files from :C:\Program Files (x86)\Quark\QuarkXPress 9\Color" to a new folder. There are 31 files.
They are simple text files with control codes, so you have to rename them from ".qcl" to ".txt".

Note/Wordpad
1. Remove the header. It cann't be done directly in MS Word because it opens them like diagrams. So the header must be removed in Note/Wordpad. The header ends with this sequence: "</number_of_sets><table><tr><td>".
2. Close the file and now open it with MS Word.

MS Word
3. Select this sequence "</td></tr><tr><td>" and replace it with Return code "^p".
4. Leave "</td>" and replace it with "," (comma), to separate the values.
5. Leave "</td>" remove the slash "/" so you get only "<td>" and replace it with nothing (empty field). it is not needed.
6. Go to the end of file and remove this sequence ",</tr></table></cgats17.data_section_data></cgats17.data_section></cgats17>".
7. You can finish here by saving the file and repeat the process for the other ones, or you can transfer it to MS Excel. If so, then...

MS Excel
8. Select all and copy the selection from MS Word.
9. Go to MS Excel, click on "A2" cell and paste data. First row is for header.
10. It will be inserted as non-separated rows.
11. Do not deselect it. Go to "Data / Text to Columns" (<ALT><A><E> in MS Excel 2007).
12. Select "Delimited" then click "Next".
13. For delimiter chose "Comma" then click "Next".
14. Hold <Shift> and click on the last column header (General).
15. When all columns are selected choose text from "Column Data Format". Press "Finish".
16. Select column "B" and delete it. It is absolutelly unnecessery.
17. Align the columns with numbers to the right.
18. Name the columns and the sheet, save it -- and you are ready.

I too had been wondering as to what I should do in order to obtain all the color definitions from the color libraries. I am so glad to have found the procedure for the same here. However, I was wondering whether there was a procedure by which Mac users can benefit the same.

PhotoLine can read color list in several formats. If you found a color list in Internet, load it and just drag it on PhotoLine. If it is compatible, PhotoLine will load it and show it.
