Has anyone tried focus stacking...

Postby greenmorpher » Fri 24 Feb 2012 13:14

...for super sharp overall focus on, e.g. macro subjects?

I have to say, I'm not about to do it but I would be interested in anyone's experience doing it with PhotoLine.

Yes, once I photographed a frog with a 500mm mirror-lens and lots of spacers. That's a friendly object for focus stacking, as it was a smooth object were you could easily mask unsharp areas.

But I never tried another tool for stacking with my bunch of pictures.

A 500mm mirror lens and lots of spacers? Good grief, Hoogo, I think you might have created a world record there! That's a seriously interesting way to take the picture!

Was it worth the trouble in the end, though, do you think?

For my family I was nerd of the day, but the picture is quite OK, I think. But i was a difficult object, mostly underexposed, but still with lots of overexposed highlights just a few pixels away.

There you go, that's the effect. And it just sat there immovable while you took multiple exposures? Wonderful. :) Nice work, hoogo.
