White balance

Hi all,

How do I adjust the white balance (I have no gray in this particular photo)?

You rely on other colours in the picture, do it by the numbers (Dan Margulis books come in handy here).

Or try this (quick fix):
1) duplicate the photo to a new layer
2) select that copy
3) Filter-->Blur-->Calculate Average
4) add a curve adjustment
5) use the grey colour picker and click on the average colour. It will turn neutral gray.
6) apply the curve adjustment to the photo layer, and remove the averaged colour layer.

PS if you are the one doing the shot, perhaps it is a good idea to invest in a gray card?

Strictly speaking, the suggestion is a colour cast removal and not a white balance adjustment. A while ago, I posted an action to perform that task:

You can adjust the White Point by using the Filter...Digital Camera...White Point adjustment.

I always like to be 'different'!!!!! I'm not a fan of white balance adjustment simply for adjustment sake. Many folks mix white balance issues with colour cast. The best tool to use is your eye. Simply adjust the colours, by whichever means you prefer, to achieve the look you prefer. Don't get hung up with white balance.
