Patch Tool

I tried to use the Patch Tool today as I was retouching an image. When the cursor turned into one of those "no entry" icons, with a circle and a line through it, I opened the manual to see what I was doing wrong and realized that I could not even find the word Patch in the document. I scrolled to the menu and found all of the items in the same group as the Patch Tool (the Healing Brush, the Remove Brush and the Red-Eye Tool), but no Patch Tool, so I am writing this post to try to find out how to use the Patch Tool. Why is it not active with my images? Why is there no entry in the manual? And what does it actually do?

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Oh. I see how it works now.

I am still a bit puzzled as to why there is no documentation in the manual for the Patch Tool but I do see how to make it work.
