Pixelsquid.com

Beitrag von dutchman »

Is there someone out there who is familiar with Pixelsquid?
That's a 3D plugIn for PS CC. GREAT!
Is there a way to implement this like Googles NIK?... that works fine for me.

Not going to happen: the plugin relies on Photoshop specific 3d functionality. And the plugin is written as a Photoshop-only plugin, not as a standard generic plugin. This will ONLY work with Photoshop, and no other application.

Actually, I must correct myself: Pixelsquid does not rely on any 3d functionality. The plugin, however, does not work with any other software but Photoshop CC. Even Photoshop CS6 is not supported.

The PNG and PSD files can be donwnloaded directly, though, and I just tested a PSD - works fine in Photoline.

All those files are rendered 3d objects at a number of angles, and include various useful channels, such as lighting, depth, reflection, shininess, and selection masks. You could render similar objects yourself in Blender or any other 3d software. For example, BlendSwap offers many free quality scenes and objects - but it does mean more work :-)

I wish Photoline could utilize the depth channel in a meaningful way in the filters. For now, we will need to rely on external plugins, unfortunately.
