As far as I know the default is always "default" (well...). That means the anti-aliasing depends on the corresponding button in the toolbar. Was there a good reason to turn that one off?

Doesn't answer my previous question, but will make it quicker—this shows how one can reveal the toolbar that holds the antialias button:

Apologies if I have come to this too late, however reading through the thread it is not clear if Emri found what he was after.
So in case he didn't I thought that i would chip in.
The simplest way to get usable callout arrows is to create you own - takes about 30 secs.
1: Use a vector shape -not the line tool. Select polygon. and create a triangle.

2: Select the polygon shape and using the 'insert vector points' tool (looks like a hammer) create another 4 points.

Then drag one of the inner points down to make the desired arrow.

3: Go to the effects menu and select layer style and add an outside shadow - adjust to your own preference. (note that the shadow does not seem to update in real time.

You now have your arrow.

4: I suggest moving the rotation point to the tip of the arrow - find by selecting the layer tool (top leftmost arrow in the tool pane) and it will most likely be in the middle of the arrow. -move to the point.

This means that you can accurately place and rotate the arrow.
you can make this a clip - or just duplicate the layer to get other arrows that are easily resized, and coloured to choice.
