Oh yeah, placeholders are nice. This was the first time I used them, so I made a lot of mistakes, but I learned from them and will be getting more used to using them in the future, I'm thinking. (Since the first version of that motorcycle test had the original images embedded in the PLD, it was really awkward trying to figure out how to replace those images with placeholders. Moral: Start off with the placeholder layer right from the get-go and save yourself a lot of futzing around with layers.)

I'm really happy that the digital photography revolution has happened. Spent too many years schlepping around large, heavy gadget bags stuffed with camera bodies, auxiliary lenses, filters, etc., etc., etc. Now, I'm able to simplify, simplify, simplify -- my LF1 with PL and RawTherapee on the computer, and that's it. It's really liberating to only have to carry a camera that's not much larger than a pack of cigarettes and weighs just a little more than that, too. I accept that my digital images, under extreme enlargement, won't be the same as analog ones (or even digital ones from outrageously expensive Leicas), but that's OK. If I want a print to frame and hang on the wall, I won't hesitate to print a full-frame A4. Could probably go up to an A3 with some images. That's just fine!
