G'MIC works fine now (at least, for Windows - not sure about Mac?)
For those who wish to test this:
- Visit https://gmic.eu/download.shtml
- Click on the link for the Paint.NET version https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/11356 ... 1-12-2019/
- download either the 64bit or 32bit version. I tested the 64bit version.
- Unzip to a folder. I extracted the content to a plugins folder of mine.
- Open PhotoLine, FILTER-->EXTERNAL PROGRAMS-->MANAGE EXTERNAL PROGRAMS
- Add a new entry, and point it to the gmic_paintdotnet_qt.exe file.. Pick PNG as intermediate file format

cylinder mode. Give better results if:
You are only turning left (or right) when taking the images (as is usually done), no translations or other type of rotations allowed.
Images are taken with the same camera, with a known FOCAL_LENGTH set in config.
Images are given in the left-to-right order.
camera estimation mode. No translation is the only requirement on cameras. It can usually work well as long as you don't have too few images. But it's slower because it needs to perform pairwise matches.
translation mode. Simply stitch images together by affine transformation. It works when camera performs pure translation and scene points are roughly at the same depth. It also requires ordered input.
Some options you may care:
FOCAL_LENGTH: focal length of your camera in 35mm equivalent. Only useful in cylinder mode.
ORDERED_INPUT: whether input images are ordered sequentially. has to be 1 in CYLINDER and TRANS mode.
CROP: whether to crop the final image to avoid irregular white border.
In cylinder/translation mode, the input file names need to have the correct order.
PhotoLine crashes when trying to stitch a multi-row panorama using the ordered input option (Reihenfolge fest).
I could not figure out what Native means. It usually results in a “target size too large” error.
I was using images taken on a tripod with a panoramic head, but the stitcher still has a lot of trouble with moving foliage.
As for panoramas, it is a bit of a hit and miss affair. I have tested a number, but most just won't work. Only one (with RAW images) so far seems to work out of 6 tested, and the result looks acceptable - blurry, though.

do you have example images for this?

I tested with the sample pictures of OpenPano. There is no problem in "Native mode". The 3 listed modes are flags to set before I call Open Pano. I somewhere read that I can call it without setting one of the flags - that's native.

I don't know what I should think of OpenPano. It's fast and the results are good if there are results
But it has no "remove not good images" function, so it will stop working if one of the images is not stitchable.

Small bug line tool with locked layer for editing:
1) create a new file
2) turn on Align to Auto Guides
3) draw a vector rectangle from corner to corner
4) lock this vector layer: position, selecting, protect content.
5) switch to the line tool
6) draw a line from corner to corner ---> this doesn't work
Step (6) will not work, because the line tool still selects the corner point from the locked vector layer, and moves that corner point instead.
Expected result: it should be possible to snap to the corners and draw a line from corner to corner without affecting the underlying locked vector layer.

Did this exactly in a portable installation Win10x64. Does not do anything. I am asked for the transfer mode (original, all layers rendered, layer) but regardless to my selection, it returnes to Photoline. No Dialog is opened.
Is possibly a special Dot-Net package required?
