Here is separate special thread of my Suggestions and Requests related only to PhotoLine Tools and Tool Options.

It's up to developers to accept those suggestions or not. One request per post. Please keep this thread free from spam and abstract non technical discussions.

Currently in Picture Mode cLUT based and XYZ based Input ICC profiles affect surrounding grey background field.
Even if i turn on "Hide border content" problem exists, but only when i assign cLUT or XYZ based Input ICC profiles to image. When i convert it to Matrix Based working ICC profile, gray background is back to normal state.
If i assign different Matrix Based input and working ICC profiles it don't affect background.
Please make surrounding background with fixed grey color.


Update: Partial fix for this problem - use Document Mode, set cLUT or XYZ based Input ICC profile to image layer and set some working Matrix based profile to Document.

When i switch Channels, color always affect surrounding grey background. Seems this problem have same source as "cLUT based and XYZ based Input ICC profiles affect surrounding grey background field" problem described earlier.
Hope it is possible somehow to fix this problem in future and always keep surrounding grey background same grey neutral color.

Request for more custom controls for Rounded Square/Rectangle. Something like this:

Rectangle/Circle Lasso Tool needs Center point indicator similar to center point used in layer handles, or some crosshatch center guide.

Layer Style problems and suggestions:

Problem 1. Outside Shadow, Outside Glow and other Layer Styles size feels very small and very limited. For normal work Layer Style size limit should be increased somewhere to 1000% instead of current 100%. This is very important for designer's work!

Problem 2. Currently Layer Opacity don't affect layer style.
Opacity affect layer style only if i put object to group and check "Draw Isolated". But it is not too convenient.
Suggestion 1:
Add dual Opacity sliders to Layers List :
"Opacity" - to change globally opacity of Layer and Layer Style.
"Fill" - to change opacity of the Layer alone and keep Layer Style opacity untouched.


Suggestion 2: Add "Fill" slider to Layer Styles options (somewhere near "Intensity" (Opacity) slider):


Problem 3. Currently Shadow opacity depends of vector object color opacity. For example if i set color opacity of vector object to 50%, shadow also became 50%. I guess that sounds logical because PhotoLine use Opacity directly in color setting, but other apps usually use only solid colors and separate slider for global opacity. In other apps Layer Style works in exact same way with raster images and use Layer pixels transparency as a source.
Suggestion: Is it possible to add option to use vector path as a source for Layer Style when Layer Style applied to Vector object? I guess perfectly for best possible control it could be some switch or checkbox in Layer Style options to switch between pixels transparency mode and vector path mode.

Problem 4. Currently Outside Strokes and Shadows behave very strange. If apply it to (semi)transparent image - solid shadow background became visible under the image:

Problem 6 (UI). Layer > Management menu is almost a clone of right click menu, so why there is no Copy Layer Style(s) and Attributes command in right click menu? Why hide this simple and useful command so deep in global menu?
Suggestion: Add Copy/Paste Layer Style and Layer Attributes commands to Layer right click menu. Currently it is hidden deeply in global menu Layer > Management > Copy Layer Style(s)

Problem 7 (UI). "Opacity" inside Layer Style named as "Intensity". Probably not a good idea to name similar sliders in different places with different names.


Problem 8. Currently it is impossible to add multiple copies of same style type and change the order of Style layers.

Improvement idea: Real time visualization of summary curve shape created by Contrast/Luminance/Gamma sliders in Curves adjustment and Exposure/Offset/Gamma//Contrast/Luminance in Exposure adjustment.

Extended control for Contrast:
Slider.1 controls angle of straight contrast line.
Slider.2 controls curvature shape strength of highlights.
Slider.3 controls curvature shape strength of shadows.
Also option to link slider 2 and 3 to adjust the same curvature shape strength for shadows and highlights.
And also instant visualization of curve shape, as described in earlier post.

Highlighted Text effect in Text Tool Settings (auto generated rectangular solid background under the text). Adjustable rectangle color. Adjustable rectangle size (distance from text edges).
P.S. Currently Highlighted Text effect partially possible to emulate by Underline with customized with and position. But this is not too comfortable at all.

In Document Attributes ICC Profile field is always visible. When document have no ICC profile it is indicated as "ICC profile - None". I can always quickly double click to it to Set (Assign) Document Profile.


For some strange reason in Layer Attributes ICC profile field is hidden by default. Instead of double click to Set Layer profile, i need go to menus or use custom hotkey.
When profile was set, ICC profile field became visible and now i can double-click on it to make changes.


Is it possible to match the logic between Document and Layer Attributes tabs? Make ICC Profile filed always visible in Layer Attributes with indicator "ICC profile - None"

Is it possible to mark with "*" edited colors in "Selective Color Correction" filter in similar way as it is currently done in "Hue/Saturation" filter? It is very useful visual hint.
Also is it possible to add hotkeys to "Selective Color Correction" to quickly switch between colors in menu?
