@Tida

Is that a software that comes with your Contour Shuttle ?

@Phil
with Contour Shuttle program you can already do a lot of things. But it does not carry out any mouse movements. Above mentioned is already my Visual Vb.net program which does process at the moment as input only keyboard shortcuts but handle as output mouse movements etc.
In combination with Contour Shuttle I have now much more possibilities.

By the way, I had to change to Arturia Beatstep Controller as shipment of Behringer X-Touch Mini takes for ever.

How many users worldwide are working with such a device?
1% or even less? Then it is not necessary and only of marginal interest. In this case I would call it a superfluous hype made up by foolish amateurs.

Does it improve image quality?
No? So why should anybody use it? Just because it is another tech gadget?

You better hone your photography skills (Most people already fail at the correct exposure) and invest into a Wacom tablet. Guess why Wacom is the most used device in professional post production...

If you want a Ferrari, you have to have the money for it. Don't ask Renault to deliver the same features in a car for a fraction of the price a Ferrari will cost you - they'd tell you are at the wrong place for shopping.

Just to illustrate what I mean by using a Wacom.

Even with this 'old' version, there are endless variables you can modify to your taste.

Then there are the options in PL:

@ der_fotograf

My motivation for the MIDI controller approach is the use of the rotary encoders to control brush size, zoom level, pan the image, increase/decrease numerical value of fields.

The alternative is to build a small Arduino based project.

Best regards.

Even an old Wacom can do that and much, much more. A professional Intuos3 starts around 35 € at ebay and you don't have to go through any hassle.

I think it is worthwhile to look at it, if you want to speed up your workflow.You will not end up with better pictures but with more finished pictures in the same time.

I don't know whether an investment to get a Ferrari should be compared to an investment of additional 50 EUR for a MIDI Controller.

@Gerhard Huber

Just a request to make controlling better.

Histogram correction as well as color filter contains text boxes wich cannot be changed by arrow up/down keys. Would it be possible to change that to spin-able boxes. This is even inconsistent as all other filters contain only spin-able textboxes.
CaptureB.JPG
Furthermore, when I’m in curves dialogbox and select a point in a picture. The corresponding point on the curve becomes activated. This is great as it can directly changed by arrow Keys. But this is not happening with the Hue curves.
Whole point activation does even not work if curves is in the layer box.

And last but not least. It would be great if toggling through the points of a curve by TAB would be a nice addition.

Hope it’s understandable what I mean...

@Tida

Your request @Gerhard Huber

All of your request is implemented in the future release.
Install the latest Beta.

I think it covers what you are looking for

On OS X you can press the SHIFT button and scroll with your mouse to change the values in single units. Without the SHIFT key the scrolling modifies the values in steps of 10 units.

In the beta you can't switch through the points of a curve, though.
I don't think Tab is good key for doing this because Tab is already the default key for switching between controls inside a dialog.

When I’m back from Holiday I will send a first excample with regards to beatstep controller. The Midi/keylogger works already well for Windows.
Important would be always that first activation for curve points can be accessed by some shortcut keys. Otherwise one has to scan through an area to find these.

Following video shows a good example where the developer tries to solve the problem to access curve points by screen scanning method. Please look at 6:15 where it comes up:

https://vimeo.com/264606144

It would be better if an access by shortcut keys would be possible...

This is hilarious. You need two hands to use the controller...

I bet I'm faster with a Wacom tablet.

Suggestion: The developers of PL should offer a separate module to integrate a midi controller. Price could be around €/US$ 25. Then let's wait and see how many people will order the module...
