Send Image to an External Helper Application?

I was recently testing a new editor that I ran across, called "LightZone". It has some pretty amazing features in it. In particular the ZoneMapper and ReLight tools. But one of the nice features is that the whole program can be used as sort of an elaborate "plugin" for other editors. It has the ability to send its saved file back to the host application that launched it, instead of saving the file to disk.

Here's the blurb from the helpfile about that feature:

"Direct Save -- When checked, using LightZone as the external editor for another application will cause LightZone to save your photo directly back to the other application when you select File > Save. "

They did this so it could be used as a nifty add-on for programs like IView Media Pro and LightRoom.

Is there any way that Photoline could have a "send image to helper application" menu-option/toolbar-button that could make use of this pretty amazing program? (I think what's more surprising is that it seems to be written mostly in java.)

The browse window has an option to send images to external programs.
