How to get diffuse flare effect with PhotoLine?

Beitrag von borgo1971 »

I'm looking to make the same effect that someone did with Photoshop with the attached images.
The autor said he did: less saturation, more light and contrast, and a diffuse flare effect... The first three are not a problem, but how can I get a similar diffuse flare effect?!

The links do not work, I only end up on a login-screen.

You can find lens-flares in "Effects > Special tools > Lens Flares..."

I don't know if there is a filter like that in PS, but I'd try this:
-"Tool > color > select colors..." Choose white, new image, smooth selection. Adjust tolerance to select all bright areas or a little bit more, I ended up at about 50% tolerance.
-Invert the new layer, "Tool > color > invert"
-Set Layer-Mode to screen (or try another one)
-"Filter > blur > gaussian blur"

It could be a mild Orton Effekt. The tutorial is for Elements; you can apply it exactly as is for PhotoLine.

The modified version is the desaturated ;) I can see a kind of glowing around bright areas in it.

Indeed the Photoshop effect applied is: Diffuse Glow. Previously I did a wrong translation. In any case I can't find it's equivalent in Photoline, and even I tried your and other suggestion, I wasn't able to make the image I like :(

I got really close to the PS-Version. I tried to do it non-destructive, hope you can open the file in the current version of PL. The layers look more complicated than mentioned above, but basically its the same.

maybe you want to try the free plugin "Diffuse Glow" from Richard Rosenman
Yes, I would like to try it, but...
All of the plugins below are only supported by Windows, NOT Macintosh.
... I can't
Thanks, anyway.

Yes, this is the probe I've much to learn about using PhotoLine. I'm sure it can do anything I need (in reality non so much, although I feel more and more the need in the last times) but most people that has my same needs about imaging, use Photoshop (mostly craked), so it's not so simple to replicate their suggestions...

Maybe, there's some tutorial on using PhotoLine to retouch architectural renderings: something with tips and trick's to make them look better, marge rendering in site photos and so on...

In any case, after some try (and thanks to your exemple) I made the attached action... I think I'll spend some more time with PhotoLine in the next months...

Making a guest visit to the Polish site (not that I could read it, just curious), I found the following link (again, unfortunately, only for Windows): http://www.optikvervelabs.com/. Seems to be quite powerful for effects discussed here.
