Fonts menu 'n Reset Slider (Features Requests)

Post by mrocha »

When you choose a font on menu and want to try another you reopen the menu and the last used is on the top of the list, is fine this "most used" fonts on top, but some times we want to continue trying others fonts and back on the point we stopped before, and I use an workaround so, I scroll down the scroll wheel one time over the font button and after a open the menu, so the PL don't back to the top of the list. I want to suggest a feature so, with right click on font button PL go to the current font point and don't go to top, with left click work as today, PL go to top of the list. Another good thing is add a setting to choose the font size on this menu, so the user can increase the fonts size on menu. And I want suggest a feature to make font groups or folders, so the user can group favorite fonts, fonts to different uses or with different licenses, etc. Thanks!

Open menu starting from currently used font instead of beginning of the list sounds like great idea. Guess simplest way is to add some key modifier to open fonts menu starting from currently used font.

Fonts in folders directly in PhotoLine sounds like nice idea too. Currently i sort fonts in folders in macOS Fonts folder and add/remove collections depending of task. So these collections appears or disappears from the PL list. Not too quick and easy, but seems the only way to control fonts. But 100% of any other apps just use plain fonts list, so i guess it is something special about fonts reading from system, so guess it may be not so easy.

By the way there are multiple ways to search fonts in PhotoLine list:
You can type font name
Type first letter
Use mouse scroll
Use up/down keyboard keys

I also dont know about if is possible implement a "fonts groups", but I imagine which this is possible, because if the software can get the fonts names, so seem possible reorganise this names "locally", sometimes we have a lot of softwares which has the same limitations, not because of an technical limitation, but is like a tradidion, I see it a lot, but if possible, maybe would be used middle click on fonts button to open fonts folders? But is just suggestions to devs think about, you know, and thanks again shijan your support, opnions 'n tips!

Or it may be more comfortable to setup font folders in global preferences (in similar way as bookmarks folders sidebar works in web browsers).

Another option to quickly change fonts: Hover the mouse over fonts dropbox (do not click and open menu) and then scroll with wheel.
This trick also works in any other dropbox or numeric input field in PhotoLine.

Yes the organization of the fonts folders would be on PL options screen, more or less like the context menu customizations (usage - toolbars). I'm thinking here, maybe right click on fonts button show the font folders as a menu so you can switch to "Show all fonts" or one of your folders, if you select one folder, using left click on fonts button will show just fonts on the folder you selected before, and middle click on fonts button open the fonts list in the point of the last used font and don't go to the list start. I know your icon pack, I think which is a nice project, and shijan how I can reset a slider on PL as on "Curves"?

It is impossible to reset separate sliders in PhotoLine (but this option was requested many times by many people long time ago)
Only global "Reset All" button, or manually enter number 0 per slider.

Improved in 23.40b9 Font list: Right-clicking does not select the last used fonts https://www.pl32.com/forum3/viewtopic.p ... 624#p50624
