Distort Image with Image filter crashes PL

Hello!

Just realised that it didn't capture the dialouge box for some reason: Here's what I did.

1. Created 4 to 5 vector rectangles - turned them into RGB layers
2. Created another red rectangle on top - turned it into RGB layer
3. Went to effects, shapes, distort image with image - it crashed.

Sometimes, it also crashes when I move the displacement percentages down to zero on both vertical and horizontal. https://imgur.com/a/ySwsgSF

And I just realised that Distort Image with Image is not quite the same as "Displace" filter that's available in PS and Affinity. Can I ask which filter achieves that result? Thank you!

I am trying to overlay an image on an image and "displace" it based on the colour value of the layer beneath it. This is for creating a realistic mock-up. Thanks!

IMHO PhotoLine's Distort Image with Image is the same as Ps's Displace. What's the difference?

Hey Martin, thanks for responding. I'll email you the PLD file. It's too big to attach.

The distort image with image misses one option, which instead of loading the map, you can use the underlying layer. Like this:

That is the only difference, and it helps me to displace image based on the underlying pixel value to create realistic mock ups. Hope that helps. Maybe there's already that option, and I don't see it. If so, please could you tell me where to find it? Thank you, man!

Oh, and also, I refuse to use PS and that's from Affinity Photo!

Yes, in Affinity release notes that new Live Displace filter looked really nice, there are a lot of advertisement video examples how it works. I also asked developers some time ago about similar: "Distort adjustment filter with depth map support. There is similar filter in PhotoLine "Distort Image with Image" but it is destructive and so it is complicated to position image exactly in place."

I checked few times on macOS version and can't see any program crashes.

By the way, if you want to keep filter non-distructive, you can first convert image to Placeholder and then apply filter. This allow to change result later.

I've shared a screenshot on email to suggest how the current filter can be improved. Posting it here, too, in case you don't see the email. This is probably the one thing that stands between me adopting PL fully and abandoning Affinity Photo.
