Suggestion for straightening a photo

I don't know about other amateur photographers, but I sometimes find I've taken an otherwise good shot not parallel to the horizon or the vertical lines may be canted. In my opinion, it would improve PhotoLine to have a quick and easy tool to solve such problems.

The Create Line tool seems perfect for adding a straighten function. Drawing a straight line across the image could set a new horizon; CTRL and drawing a straight line up or down could establish a new perpendicular angle.

To me, the current actions required to straighten an image seem a bit convoluted.

What is your opinion?

The "Rotate document …" and "Rotate Layer …" commands already have such a feature. Just open the dialog and draw a line in the main window to set a new horizon or a new vertical axis. Unfortunately, PL does not have an auto crop feature for the entire document. One way around this is to duplicate the bg layer, straighten and auto-crop the copy, then delete the bg picture (while in picture mode).

That's my point exactly. This is much more "round-about" than simply selecting the Create Line tool and drawing a line.

On the Mac, I do the straightening as part of my preliminary editing in iPhoto. Excellent.

In (or on??) Windows I do it in Lightroom with RAW-images or with the excellent plugin PTLens.

I'm not satisfied with the standard possibilities in PL, not enough for real image-tweaking.

For RAW images I shoot, I use ACDC ProPhoto Manager to pre-process before PL. Straightening a photo is an easy process there -- simply draw a line. However, for a lot of shots, I shoot JPEGs and go directly from camera to PL. It should be a simple process in PL, too, without having to call on an excellent plug-in.
