Vector mask

Hi all,

I´m trying to create a vector mask with a blur adjustment layer but the result is a empty canvas,i don´t know if this is possible or is just that my setup is wrong.

Thanks a lot , now I have another question if you don´t mind. I would like to have the borders of the vector mask blurred as well, right now I get the "contents" only.

Strange. Juan's solution works for me (but only if the fill and line colour of the vector graphics is white - apparently, the result after applying the adjustment layer behaves like a bitmap). Andreas' solution doesn't work for me.

Alternatively (and probably faster): instead of applying blur to the vector graphics, set a soft edge: Layer -> Clipping Layer -> Clipping Width (or set it in the layer's attributes).

Both versions work, but do different things.
Juans' Version works when the fill color is set to white, just as BKH mentioned. A vector without an adjustment behaves like a clipping path, the color does not matter. But when an adjustment is applied, it behaves like a pixel mask, and the color is important.

In the version of Andreas the softening is applied to the picture, not to the mask. It's something different, but it works.

do you mean the line (=border?) of the triangle?
I would remove the line, you don't need it - just adjust the form (fill/content) to the required size.

I assume that Juan would like to cut a triangle with a soft border out of his picture?

His screen-shot doesn't show the fill color of the triangle, if it is black, then he will get an empty canvas. A vector for clipping behaves more like a raster mask when an adjustment is added to it.

OK, if this is the intention ...
White vector-triangle as layer-mask & Blur as a child of layer-mask will do this job.

That was the trick, change the fill of the vector layer to white

yes I meant the blur the border of the vector mask and not the content of it.

Now looks like there is no way to have both at the same time, or is the border or the content.

If you just add two adjustment layers:

BTW: increase the size of the second adjustment layer to get a nice blurred border.

There has to be a way I would try to take the layer+mask, group the layer, add the adjustment to the group. Let's see what happens.

Easy way:
1. draw vector
2. [Tool]-[Lasso]-[Convert Layer to Lasso]
3. Copy
4. Past
5. Blur new Layer
