Re: Wishlist
Couple more thing that would be great to be implemented:
1- Right now holding Ctrl and drag you change the size of the brush, holding Ctrl + Shift change the hardness of the brush and what about Ctrl + Alt change the aspect ratio of the brush?
2- Would be great to be able to change the toolbox width from 2 icons to only 1 icon in order to get more drawing space.
3- Scroll the different layers mode blending with the arroy key (Up/Down), is a real pain to click everytime from that menu to see which blending mode is better for your needs.
Cheers

Is this Windows only, or am I overlooking something? I can open the list and move around using the cursor keys (or the mouse), but I don't see the layer effect until I select a list item (and the list closes).Hoogo hat geschrieben:This already works when the list is opened.Juan hat geschrieben:3- Scroll the different layers mode blending with the arroy key (Up/Down), is a real pain to click everytime from that menu to see which blending mode is better for your needs.

Working with pixel measurements would help, wouldn’t it?addison hat geschrieben:Ok, forget everything I said (sorry). I was doing just as you said -- I always have a 1-pixel grid turned on and the dimensions were exact pixels. Please carry on!bkh hat geschrieben:I get sharp edges here, provided that position and size of the square vector layer are integers. It's my experience that if you fill the resulting lasso, even if it's from a pixel-perfect square vector, the edges are blurred 1 pixel or so.
I actually need to delete this post -- you answered the question yourself, addison! I didn't read your full post until after I posted. Fingers moving faster than the brain.

Fun! But seriously useful. +1Juan hat geschrieben: 2- Brush dynamics (How much I miss this feature everyday, jitter, scatter, etc).
Good thinking.Juan hat geschrieben: 3- Snap guides to vector points (right now is only vector points to guides).
4- Move ruler origin.
In addition to the Brightness/Contrast in the Curves panel (if it is there, why not in the Histogram panel? But better yet, as a separate panel?) here is as Brightness/Contrast toolbar (View / Toolbars / Brightness/Contrast). This a simplified, giving you + or - of predetermined steps so it is limited, but as far as I am concerned, it works very well most of the time. One thing about it is repeatability, since you can count the clicks.Juan hat geschrieben: 5- Brightness and contrast adjustment layer and fill solid/gradient adjustment layer.
Can't you do this just by duplicating your source layer so you have two copies of it?Juan hat geschrieben: 7- Make convert layer to lasso non aggressive (the source layer shouldn't be destroy).
As people have pointed out, the filter brush. I wish this functionality could be extended, though, to cover a fuller range of filters, e.g. more blurs, more sharpening options.Juan hat geschrieben: 8- Blur brush.
You asked about the software that does this. Olympus offers it as an in-camera "art" filter -- at least, adding vignette. I think its dedicated PP software offers it too. I don't know; I've never used it.Juan hat geschrieben: 11- Add Vignette in the Filter-Digital camera (useful to remove/correct or add vignette to a picture).
Kekus LensFix CI on Mac, and (I presume) its (big) sister program PTLens on Windows. They are PS compatible plug-ins and work very well with PhotoLine. Two sliders -- one for degree of vignette, the other for the size of the center. These programs also offer perspective rectification (or application) -- which PL already does, although LensFix does it with a couple of sliders, easier for some things, but doesn’t cover every case which the more complex PL tool does (PL might benefit by introducing that simple version for Q&D straightening in addition to its more complex tool); color fringing fixing -- PL offers red and cyan chromatic aberration correction but LensFix also offers yellow/blue; and most importantly (the primary purpose of these plug-ins), correction for lens distortion through the application of individual algorithms in a database based on actual performance of lenses measured from images sent in by users. I believe the guy behind the PTLens database (which both LensFix CI and PTLens use) has stopped doing these now -- I presume because in-camera correction and specific software have improved. PL offers manual barrel and pincushion distortion correction, of course, and it works well for those cases where a simple distortion has to be corrected (which is most cases). LensFix CI was invaluable for images from my Kodak P880, for instance, which had a mustachio-shaped distortion at wide angle! (Past tense for the P880 -- it is on eBay here in Oz right at this moment.)
It would be good if the PL rectify tool offered a grid overlay to make judging the best movement of the points more easily. There also should be some locking of movement so you could move the points only one way at a time, e.g. only vertical or only horizontal. That would allow for quicker adjustment. Also once the verticals re adjusted, there is a need to adjust the aspect -- a building might be stretched, for example, and you need to move the baseline up to get it back into proper proportion, so it would be nice to be able to grab the line and move it.

Re: Wishlist
The better image processing software coming on the market these days is taking advantage of multi-core processors and/or relying on new generation graphics cards to assist with some of the heavy lifting. PS CS6 is now in public beta, and the folks there are promoting speed increases relying in part on the graphics cards. I have seen two new non-destructive editing products and one new editor/DAM using this approach.Juan hat geschrieben:
1- General speed boost (I usually work with pictures of 3000x2000 tiff 16bits and many adjustment layers (AL), after a couple of AL the zoom in / out gets so heavy and slow, and even selecting many layers gets really slow).
I'm sure the Hubers have speed increase methods on their agenda.

Re: Wishlist
While we're in the wishing mode here, I'd like to renew a couple of requests and add a new one (at least from me):
1. Add a straight-line tool to make horizontal/vertical corrections of the image. Yes, I know there are other ways to do this in PhotoLine. But they are more complicated. I can think of nothing faster than being able to select a keyboard shortcut, pull a line across the image with the mouse and get the horizon correction immediately. It's faster. That's the reason this method of straightening has become the standard in the image-editing industry.
2. Give us a true full-screen preview mode in the Windows version. I understand this may be available for the Mac, but in Windows, pressing F11 results in remnants of the PL interface around the image. If the image is not large enough to fill the screen, fill with black.
3. Finally, isn't it time to at least provide users an option to use dark background options in the PL interface to make our images pop? Most other editors adopted that color scheme at least one version ago, and I understand it's coming in PS CS6.

Re: Wishlist
I guess that tool works universally not per layer, that´s why i was thinking that this adjustment layer was missing or is still missing as a unique layer adjustment. And maybe when you open PS files the translation is more reliable.greenmorpher hat geschrieben:In addition to the Brightness/Contrast in the Curves panel (if it is there, why not in the Histogram panel? Of course but is a real pain because by "nature" this shouldn´t be destructive tool. And at the end require more clicks from this specific action.greenmorpher hat geschrieben:Can't you do this just by duplicating your source layer so you have two copies of it?

I found a small plugin from MV´s plugin: Vignette Corrector. I don´t need a "physically correct" vignette tool, I just use it as a small adition in my pictures.greenmorpher hat geschrieben:You asked about the software that does this. The software developers have to have one thing in mind. Less is better and the amount of clicks count too.OldRadioGuy hat geschrieben:1. Re: Wishlist
Here are visual representations of a couple of my wishlist requests:
True Full Screen in Windows PL (Examples use an image the size of the computer screen. Smaller size should show black (or dark gray) borders. Image larger than screen size should use the Hand tool to move the image around.)
Currently, PL Full Screen in Windows is not true Full Screen
True Full Screen in PSP
Finally, a visual example of how straighten would work. Click on an icon or select a keyboard shortcut, with the mouse drag a short horizontal line or vertical line, release the mouse, and the image adjusts. No additional boxes to check, no additional mouse movements. Short and simple.
Thanks in advance for your consideration and comments.

Re: Wishlist
Bob
For correcting verticals/horizontals, I do option-r to bring up the layer > rotate layer dialog box, then just click on a spot in the picture and drag, then click OK.
THERE IS A BUG in this process, though.
Instead of clicking OK, I should be able to activate that by hitting RETURN. However, dragging the line doesn’t activate OK in this dialogue box, I have to click OK. Needs to be fixed. Hadn’t noticed that until just now while I was checking the process. Typing in a figure activates the OK.
Cheers, geoff

Re: Wishlist
At least on Mac OS X, the problem is that the dialogue loses focus as soon as you draw the line in the main document window. Many of PL's filter dialogs work that way, but the Curves dialog remains in focus even if you click into the main window, so it seems possible to change the behaviour.greenmorpher hat geschrieben:THERE IS A BUG in this process, though.

Re: Wishlist
Just a thought – maybe it would make sense to add this to the crop tool (which, despite its name, is my preferred tool for straightening and unskewing photos as well)? Alt-dragging might draw a line and rotate the image accordingly.OldRadioGuy hat geschrieben:1. Add a straight-line tool to make horizontal/vertical corrections of the image. In any case, imo there should be some sort of confirmation before the actual (lossy) rotation will be carried out because in my experience, the line which I choose as a horizon often doesn't work as well as I expected. My preferred way is to use live rotation, togehter with a grid (I could use a finer grid than the ones offered by PL, btw.)
