Yes, a grid would be nice. But I have no problem with drawing the line incorrectly, from time to time -- just command-z to reverse the action and try again. Sometimes I change the setting by typing in a figure.

The thing is, though, that the dialogue box should remain active in this situation, because drawing the line is actually simply an alternative way of entering a figure in the dialogue box. Do it and see. So not being able to OK by hitting return in this situation is inconsistent.

How lossy is the process (apart from the cropping, which can be switched off)? I would have thought there is no loss until the picture is saved and in these situations; I am (usually) taking a JPEG from the camera and saving as a JPEG at 100% in PL.

That's fine, as long as you always use "undo". I'm a bit worried that people might try to rotate the result, losing a bit of image quality at each step.

Totally agreed. Just wanted to say that other dialogues could be improved in a similar way.

Rotating is inherently lossy because the entire picture needs to be resampled. Nothing to worry if you only rotate once using one of the better algorithms (bicubic, Lanczos3, Lanczos8). But try and rotate your picture in 5 degree steps until you have reached 90 degs, then rotate it back and compare … Lanczos8 actually does a good job, but it tends to produce ringing artifacts.

Another wish would be to have an option in the brush editor to be use the document size, right now if the layer is distort somehow the brush get distorted too, maybe in some cases this could be useful but having the option to toggle between use document properties or layer properties would be great.

Hi all,

By accident I just discovered that using up and down arrows keys you can change the size of the brush but would be great if using left and right arrows keys we could change the inner radius as well.

Hi all,

Now talking about brushes I have some ideas to improve the workflow:

1- Ability to rotate the brush with scroll wheel mouse while holding Ctrl key.
2- Add decimal precision on the brush angle rotation for more precise drawing.
3- Option to disable the "outliner" preview of the brush (for complicate brushes this get too slow to redraw) and activate an overlay of the "real" content or the bitmap content of the brush for more precise draw.

Hi all,

Another thing that I would like to suggest is a better palette docking, right now (at least for me) is a real pain to try to dock any palette, it takes so much time of trial and error that becomes frustrating and this is more evident if for some reason the palette goes with the title bar to the side, so what about if the palettes could have some kind of "placement indicator" while you are moving it to dock it like when you move layers.

I have a very simple and small request: could the middle mouse button be used as a hand tool/space bar alternative, pretty please? That would be truly convenient. Or at least an option to activate this in the preferences. Simple change, but very, very useful.

So: hold down middle mouse button and move mouse: drag canvas around.

Hi all,

I can´t find the topic but I would like to bring this wish again, having the possibility to color label each layer in the Layers/Channel Palette.
I usually work importing PDF made it in Autocad and each element is a layer group and I have to extract some elements from there, but as there are no names I have to go one by one to see which one I need and this color labeling would be extremely useful to mark the ones that I want to keep with a visual hint.

I would like to add my support for this too.

I also really like the Ctrl + Left Click "mouse movement" method of changing the brush size and the Shift + Ctrl + Left Click Hardness alteration, very useful.


A slight change to the "Pause" function in the Actions palette would be useful. Currently it seems to be the only way to force a tool change in an action, for example changing from Brush to the Colour Gradient tool.

The only problem is that it then hides the actions panel until you either press the cancel or continue buttons in the action panel. For me that means a wide sweep to the far side of my second monitor which interrupts things a bit.

Could that be made so that it continues by default when another action or operation is started or perhaps if that is not possible assign a hot-key for "continue".

The ideal would be a simple way of setting the tool selection in the action of course but I'm not a programmer so I don't know if that would be more difficult?


With regards to the comments made earlier in the thread, about speed with large multi layered files (Typically 20 megapixel 16bit images with 10 to 30 layers in my case.) Would it not be possible to use a temporary cache on a separate specified "Scratch disk" to improve things.

PS effectively uses a similar function and I keep a clean 32GB SSD just for this sort of facility.

If I assign that drive to Windows to improve PhotoLine performance unfortunately it then cuts down the space for other programs that normally use that disk for such temporary files.


Great program by the way which I am enthusiastically recommending to everyone in my lectures and in Photography forums all over. . . I can't wait to see what v.18 has in store for us.
