Silly question, but I am used to Photoshop's transform selection command. When I select part of a layer, how do I transform just that selection? Looked everywhere in the help and the interface, but I just can't find it. I feel a bit ridiculous for asking - I've been an advanced PH user for years, and I tend to figure out functionality and GUIs quickly (for example, Blender was easy to learn for me), but I am stumped as to how I transform a simple selection in Photoline.
So what is the equivalent of Photoshop's 'transform selection' command in Photoline?

Re: transform selection?
Hello,
you only have to select a Lassotool. Then you can transform your selection.
Please read in the Help-File section 6.3.4.

Re: transform selection?
In PL, you can transform the selection border, but not the content of the selection. Instead, copy (or cut) and paste the selection (as a new layer). You can then transform the new layer, and merge the new layer back into the original layer, if that's necessary (otherwise it will be merged automatically if you save as a single layer file, such as jpeg, tiff or png).Herbert123 hat geschrieben:Silly question, but I am used to Photoshop's transform selection command. Re: transform selection?
Hmmm, I am rather surprised such a basic function is only available via a work-around. I just bought (yesterday) Photoline, and I am quite impressed with it - however, some of basics are quite... quirky compared to other image editors.
For example, the crop tool does not allow me to increase the canvas area, only to crop the existing area. And now I discover there is no direct transform selection option. It can be done in other ways, I guess - just slower and less efficiently.
Ah well, on with the discovery!
*edit* have to say though I'm impressed with:
- easy editing selections
- multiple layer mask per layer! Woohoo!
- mixing different colour modes per layer!
- multiple pages support (including pdf import) - *way* faster than PS
- full filter support for 16bit mode
- a proper clouds filter! (finally)
All of the above is superior to Photoshop!
Very nice to have:
- 16bit support (32bit support would be better - although I noticed I can convert a layer to 32bit)

Re: transform selection?
Actually, such a "feature" existed but caused (me, at least) a lot of trouble because a transformed selection behaved totally different from an ordinary one. Imo, the new metaphor via a new layer is much more consistent. Btw., apart from copy and paste, there's also a command to turn a selection into a layer in one step – it's also available in the context menu, and you can assign a key to it if you need it frequently.Herbert123 hat geschrieben:Hmmm, I am rather surprised such a basic function is only available via a work-around.
That's one of the points which bother me too … in a lot of cases, that would be easier than Layout -> Document -> Change Document Size …Herbert123 hat geschrieben:For example, the crop tool does not allow me to increase the canvas area, only to crop the existing area. Actually, PL has full 32 bit support (all the filters, adjustment layers etc. seem to work fine). It's just that you can't create a 32 bit layer directly. Again, the UI isn't quite on a par with the capabilities of PL.
