Although at first glance Photoline does not offer symmetry painting, it actually does. Check out the sample files.
The "multiple axes" works best if you start painting in the right top corner. Or add a photo for interesting effects. Scale up and down, rotate and move for kaleidoscope-like effects.
It would be nice if photoline would update the painting of strokes in real time in the virtual layers. Perhaps in the next version? hint hint?

Re: Symmetry Painting in Photoline
I noticed I made a small mistake in one of the mirrored axes. Corrected file attached.

Re: Symmetry Painting in Photoline
Interesting...
I'm guessing that's more of a design thing, Out of interest, what sort of thing would you normally use that for?
Dohh... Just seen the other thread... That makes more sense now..

Re: Symmetry Painting in Photoline
There is still a symmetry problem in the "multiple axes" version. I've taken the liberty to fix this (8 axes.pld attached below) and also created a 6 axes version. Since PL opens these files with all groups collapsed and the bg layer selected, I've added a virtual copy of the bg layer to the top group. In this way, one can start painting on the bg layer right away.
Btw., this approach does not create completely symmetric images – just paint a dot and then paint onto one of its mirror images with another colour. The outcome will be symmetric provided that one only paints in one segment, so maybe it would be appropriate to add a corresponding layer mask?
Cheers
Burkhard.

Not sure what you mean. Here, the virtual layers get updated instantly while drawing – maybe this is a Win problem?Herbert123 hat geschrieben:It would be nice if photoline would update the painting of strokes in real time in the virtual layers. Perhaps in the next version? hint hint?

Ha, thanks for correcting the file. Yes, I am aware that it is not truly symmetrical yet, because you have to take care where to start painting. Layer masking may very well solve that - good idea.bkh hat geschrieben:There is still a symmetry problem in the "multiple axes" version. Perhaps we should turn this into a couple of actions that prepares the canvas for mirror/symmerty painting.
