hi there,
any way to improve PhotoLine AA on Brush ?
using a Wacom, and thin lines don't look too good...
(ignore the vector drawings to the right, though wish i could set them to RGB under options, instead of having to change them all the time manually...) (or have better AA on them)

I don't know about the brush, but something about the vectors:
Maybe you activated the same option a Juan did here?
Or maybe you have turned Antialiasing off? You can do that with a button in the upper toolbar. Or with the attributes-dialog.

nope.. didn't help,
but the main problem is the brush, which doesn't AntiAlias properly...

Strange … there is some antialiasing taking place. I tried the same with my Bamboo tablet, and everything seems fine. What tablet are you using? Which operating system? What are your brush settings (in the brush editor) and the Tool settings? Do yo draw at 100 % magnification? What are your settings under Preferences -> Working -> Brush?erikals hat geschrieben:but the main problem is the brush, which doesn't AntiAlias properly...
Btw., I didn't quite understand your remark about RGB colours. Are you perhaps working in a CMYK document?
Cheers
Burkhard.

Re: PhotoLine AA on Brush / Vector
Interesting effect that th brush creates smooth lines when zoomed in, but more aliased lines when zoomed to 100%.
There's a solution for the vectors: "Edit > Options > Display > Layer". There you can alter the vector quality to high.

Re: PhotoLine AA on Brush / Vector
Got it, the AA problem with slow brush strokes is quite easy to explain (and reproducible). This isn't tablet related, you can produce the same effect using the mouse. It's also normal. When you move the brush, PL receives cursor coordinates, and PL connects them by drawing a curve between them (in case this is enabled in Preferences -> Working -> Brush). Now if working in 100 % mode, these coordinates correspond to whole pixels, and if you move slowly, you hit neighbouring pixels one by one, creating the non-antialiased look. If you draw more quickly, then PL interpolates between points, giving a more antialiased look. Once you switch to 400 %, screen coordinates correspond to quarter pixels, so you get antialiasing again.erikals hat geschrieben:hi, i made some discoveries

The only good solution to this would be for PL to use fractional screen coordinates. Seems that, at least on OS X, the tablet and mouse deliver more precise movement information than just screen coordinates. Maybe the developers can improve something here.
I suppose that Hoogo's post solved the vector shape issue?
Cheers
Burkhard.

Re: PhotoLine AA on Brush / Vector
yes, i think so too, fractional screen coordinates could solve it...
(didn't get the display options for vectors to help, maybe it's a graphic card issue)
wonder, is there a way to contact the author of PhotoLine for a feature request on the Brush-Antialiasing...?
