Re: Finger Paint - updates
alternatively, one could probably alter the "Replace Color Brush"
right now however, it doesn't work the same way...

Re: Finger Paint - updates
You can reduce/remove the "steps" by using finer brush steps in the brush settings. I agree that the initial colour of the Finger brush should fade out totally after a while. Of course, this only shows on a singe colour background.erikals hat geschrieben:hi,

P.S.: Personally, I'd prefer a written problem description and maybe a sample file with which I could reproduce the critical step to a video. In any case, before I start downloading and viewing it, I'd like to be sure I'm interested in the problem. (OK, I'm not a video tutorial type of person, either). Maybe it's something worth thinking about since you've had no feedback yet.

Re: Finger Paint - updates
thanks, will check the step setting (maybe change the default one then?)
yeah, i guess written could be better for the last one, for the first video, maybe not, but i guess a youtube video would be better... slightly easier for me too...
the lack of answer might also have to do with lack of experienced retouchers /artists, not knowing how important this feature is.
i'm already ready to look elsewhere, because of how PL lacks fluid Replace Color options...
also see > http://www.pl32.com/forum3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3647
it'd me great to receive a mail when this is fixed, but i guess that would be hard to keep track of for the developers.
(too much feature-request replies)
does PhotoLine have a newsletter..?

Re: Finger Paint - updates
I guess the best feedback you can get is looking at announcements of beta versions (in German, though). At least two of your issues have already been fixed (bad antialiasing when moving the brush slowly, finger brush always leaving a trace).erikals hat geschrieben:it'd me great to receive a mail when this is fixed, but i guess that would be hard to keep track of for the developers.

EDIT: Just noticed that you work under Windows – but apparently the antialiasing has (so far?) only been improved on OS X. Otoh, the finger tool has been changed such that it can be restricted to work on a single layer.
One must always keep in mind that PL is developed by just two people, who tend to spend more time on fixing bugs and adding new features than on communicating with their customers (or beta testers). Like it or not, that's the way they run their business.
There's a RSS feed with PL announcements, and there's the Announcements section in the Forum, but I don't think that there's anything beyond that.does PhotoLine have a newsletter..?

edit: excuse me...bkh hat geschrieben:You can reduce/remove the "steps" by using finer brush steps in the brush settings...
i notice i had to fix the intensity as well... the intensity setting would be better to put together with the "Edit Brush" settings i think. no biggie for now though.
Good, solved!

the Replace Color Finger Paint / Brush issue is still unsolved though...

update>
i've tested this method, and for now it seems to work alright...
-duplicate layer
-set it to color mode
-use the finger brush to smudge the color
...it wasn't as big of a workaround as i first though...

Re: Finger Paint - updates
I can't reproduce this. I also tried the Finger tool on a black-to-white gradient (intensity set to 50 %) and it doesn't seem to darken: Other intensities behave similarly.erikals hat geschrieben:another problembkh hat geschrieben:At least two of your issues have already been fixed (bad antialiasing when moving the brush slowly, finger brush always leaving a trace).

Re: Finger Paint - updates
thanks for testing,
we are both right ;]
seems that the effect is reproduced only when using a low intensity, like 20% or so...
if you keep retouching the same area with intensity 20% you'll see that the fingerpaint tool refuses to override the dark areas.

Re: Finger Paint - updates
OK, at 10 to 20 %, I can see what you mean – this has been fixed in the current beta. Probably it's the same bug which caused the finger tool never to stop painting which you reported earlier.erikals hat geschrieben:seems that the effect is reproduced only when using a low intensity, like 20% or so...

Re: Finger Paint - updates
tested the new beta, works, sort of...
found it works only good at times in a flattened layer...
i made a video, difficult to explain in plain text...
http://youtu.be/9UCjWt8mp_8
edit: i see now using 16bit instead of 8bit removes the problem...
(i wish 8 bit would work too though...)
