Files not opening set to top left hand corner

For some unknown reason, when I open a file it no longer opens with its top left corner in the top left corner of the window. Rather, while the left edge is hard up against the left side of the window, the picture is now set to the bottom of the screen -- it is as though the bottom left hand corner has taken over as the point of orientation.

How to I get it to revert to its former, correct behavior of pictures opening with the top left corner in the top left corner!

Maybe too many panels somehow "blocking" the usual position? In that case, you might try "View -> Hide Panels" before opening the file.

Or maybe something is wrong with the preferences – try starting PL with fresh preferences. Quit PL, create a folder "UserSettings" in the same folder as PL, and re-start PL. If it works, PL should start in unregistered mode. (Delete the UserSettings folder to get your previous preferences back.)

I have the same thing, and I thing it occurred since I have the beta (17.90b10) installed as well. The panels are a bit confused, too. Maybe it's related?

So far, I haven't had the effect, although I also have both 17.53 and 17.90b10. However, it's quite possible that this setup messes up panels, since the beta version now has detachable tabs … I've seen panels which were just visible at the right and bottom edges of the screen …

At least, panel layouts saved with 17.53 seem to continue to work with 17.53 and those from 17.90b10 work with the current beta, so I use saved presets if things get messed up.

Magic Burkhard, that's all it took. I hid the panels, opened a file, it opened correctly with the top right ocrner in the top right corner (as it were), I showed the panels and adjusted the position of the pic, saved it, then opened other files. All opened with the TRC in the TRC. Thanks, mate.
