There is a feature in PS called "Blend If" on the Layer Styles palette which is useful for targeting particular tonal ranges when using the blend modes.
I've been looking around for something similar in PhotoLine but so far haven't found anything.
I'm probably just looking in the wrong places but is there anything that does the same sort of job?

Right-mouse click a layer, "Color Filter".
