UI Buttons and panels stop working

Every so often the buttons and panels stop working completely. I cannot get them to work again unless I restart PL. Is there an easy way to fix this. I'm painting on rather large files and it take a while to save and open them.

Strange … what version of PL and which OS and version are you using? Could it be you are running out of RAM? Maybe it's worth checking the undo memory under Preferences -> Working -> Undo – set the maximum well below the amount of RAM you have.

I'm using windows7 64 bit. i7, 8GB of Ram total.

Well I have 7GB available and the file itself is only about 147 MB.its a 32 bpc image, 2657x3636 px (which makes me wonder why it takes so long to save the file. It opens quickly. Undos are set to 40. The tools still work perfectly, just the UI stops working, the top menu will still work fine and I can still paint on the image and the hot keys still work. Just can't click on the panels and activate the buttons and sliders etc. some times.

It's been quite a while since I have encountered some comparable effects. At that time some elements went dead when I have opened a context menu in the layer list, ignored it and just clicked into the picture. Such bugs are hard to find, as I could not tell what I've done only one second ago to produce this. Maybe it's something similar this time? I haven't encountered this yet, though.

I'm using Win7/64 and aero. But my problem has been fixed long ago...
