Move ruler zero point

Hi - sorry if this has been asked before but couldn't quickly locate in manual or using search, or achieve using shift/alt/command and dragging.... so how do you move the zero point of the rulers to a different point on the document rather than top left, please? I'm on 17.10 for (relatively old) Mac.

On windows (I think same on mac also) just click on the register marker (the round one looks like target) and drag it to proper position.

By the way, same works on guides also. Just cilck on top or left side of the ruler (any area of it) and do like dragging it. It will create a guide. Actually all those are actions works as expected.

Actually I'm so new to PhotoLine but I'm on an intensive learning and testing progress. I suggest to refer on user guide frequently. Because some of the functions are hard to guess. But also extremly easy and fast to apply. When I read the guide, I impressed too much. PL is full of surprises which lets manuplation nearly with minimum clicking on menus. There are really smart details waiting to discover but also life saving. Expecially while working and surfing trough layers.

Can do guides - seem to work like every other graphics programme I've used.

Can't so far change zero point of ruler though by dragging from the little square top left where they both begin as I would expect. Wondering where I'm going wrong?

Actually I couldn't understand either. Just needs to drag that connection point.
There is another option, double click on that square, it will give you X and Y adjustment dialog. If you'll make both zero, it will align the beginning of your canvas 0 point. Or you can write whatever else.

The differences between the windows and mac versions can differ in OS related issues like Shortcuts, right and middle clicks on mouse and drag operations etc. This function is completely handled inside the main window of PL. So I dont expect to have a difference between win and mac.

You can’t move it in 17.10, unfortunately. You will see the area where the two rulers join (upper left) is blank. This capability was added later, I think in the current version, v.18, which shows a cross hairs in the upper left hand corner.

Like you, I am on a Mac running an older OS -- in my case X.6.8. I run it because it is the last version that allows me to install Rosetta (although you have to choose to install it as an extra rather than the installation happening automatically as in X.5.x) so I can run some legacy programs -- most importantly Canvas X but also Eudora 6.2.4, Personal Organizer, and one or two others.

That also allows me to run PL 17.10 -- the last version to use Rosetta and therefore one or two older plug-ins including Lensfix -- but I have discovered a magic thing.

In fact, I run PL v.18, but have PL v.17.10 set up to launch from within it as an External Program (see the Filters menu) so I can have the best of both worlds -- v.18 and when I want it occasionally, v.17.10.

Might I suggest that if it is possible, you upgrade to OS X.6.8? This really is a step up from X.5.x. For X.6.x, Apple went through OS X with a good broom, cleaned out all the garbage and remnant bits of workarounds and redundancies and stuff that had accumulated over the years and came up with a very clean, high performing OS. In fact, it is OS X like it was meant to be. It had some of its own issues (mainly about fonts) in the first two versions but X.6.8 is very good.

The wonderful thing was that for those like me who run Canvas X, unsupported for quite some years, X.6.8 saw the disappearance of a whole bunch of bugs -- some quite serious! Turns out they were not Canvas bugs at all, but OS X bugs. There are still one or two things that you have to avoid doing, like opening files from the Recent Files, and you need to go to PDF (or JPEG or something) to print, but that's no really problem. But it really was funny to see those bugs disappear. It was a belated acknowledgement of the wonderful work a very small bunch of programmers did in carbonizing Canvas at v.8.

Anyway, there you are, for what it is worth. I THINK you need X.6.x to run PL v.18, but if you want to continue running v.17.10 in tandem with it, you CAN run it as an External Program you can summon from within v.18.

I'm using, generally very effectively, 10.5.8 on a G5 Powermac - so I conclude I can't re-set it unless I use more up-to-date OSs and PL versions - which I could possibly do on another Mac that I have, but I'm reasonably happy with the set up I have for now (two screens etc), bar the odd thing like this
