Hmm. Ok, I think this violates the principle of least-surprise. I didn't ask for the previous layer to have a change in size; I simply added a layer mask that *itself* decided to mark a region that covered my mask painting. At no time did I change the size or add any selection that changed the size of the layer. PL did this for/to me. So, it seems a mistake to change the way subsequent layers act based on something that PL needed to do for its own housekeeping, instead of something I asked for.Martin Huber hat geschrieben: New adjustment layers are created with the same size and location as the active layer. So if the active layer covers just a part of the background, the new adjustment layer will do so, too. If you want to enlarge (or reduce) an image layer to the size (and location of) the background layer, you can use the command "Layout > Image > Bring To Document Size".

Re: help with masks
I can't reproduce this behavior. Here PhotoLine always creates adjustment layers with the same size as the active layer.asharpe hat geschrieben:Hmm. If there is a problem and anyone has found a way to reproduce it, I am very interested in knowing it.

Re: help with masks
So, you have a base image, you add a curves layer, and add a mask to that. Select the mask, paint on it. Select the curves layer, and add a new layer. That's it. It happens every time for me. What exactly are you doing to try to recreate it? Does your layer stack look exactly like the one I posted?Martin Huber hat geschrieben: I can't reproduce this behavior. Re: help with masks
I can reproduce this using the current beta version but not PL 18.01 – I guess that this has something to do with the experimental code showing only the visible layer size.Martin Huber hat geschrieben: I can't reproduce this behavior. - open an image
- create an adjustment layer (curves, say)
- make a selection smaller than the image (e.g., rectangle lasso)
- create a layer mask from the selection (for the adjustment layer)
- create a new adjustment layer on top of the previous adjustment layer
Cheers
Burkhard.

Re: help with masks
While I'm glad you can reproduce something like what I saw, all I was doing was painting on a mask, and not setting a smaller size or selection *anywhere*.

Re: help with masks
I get the same behaviour by painting in the layer mask – but again, this only happens with the beta version. Do you use the beta version as well, or do you see the problem with the released version as well? (It's best to discuss issues with the beta version in the beta testers forum because they only affect a few users, and only for a short time, generally.)asharpe hat geschrieben:While I'm glad you can reproduce something like what I saw, all I was doing was painting on a mask, and not setting a smaller size or selection *anywhere*.

Re: help with masks
I'm glad you can reproduce this. This is indeed in beta 4. This is why I thought it was a bug (or mis-feature). I'll try the released version... Ok, I've tried the released version, and the problem does not occur. Hopefully, it will be fixed in the Beta version before it becomes the released version. Martin, do you have a handle on the issue now? And, I would have posted this in a Beta forum group, but I believe it is only in German, correct?bkh hat geschrieben: I get the same behaviour by painting in the layer mask – but again, this only happens with the beta version. Doesn't matter, it's a funny mixture of German and English there.asharpe hat geschrieben:I would have posted this in a Beta forum group, but I believe it is only in German, correct?

Re: help with masks
Ah, well, perhaps it doesn't matter; apparently I don't have the requisite permissions to view and post to the beta forum anyway. Or perhaps, more correctly, "You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post." and I do not have permission to post screenshots there, either. It looks like I could make a post, though, but without additional images, it might not be so useful.Hoogo hat geschrieben:Doesn't matter, it's a funny mixture of German and English there.asharpe hat geschrieben:I would have posted this in a Beta forum group, but I believe it is only in German, correct?

a short mail to the developer should be enough.
