I ask this merely out of curiosity. A guy on the Adobe forums tested Photoshop and got to its limit of 8000 layers for a 100px white box - but it took hours and hours for him to get there.
I just tested in Photoline, and I got to 10000 layers easily (groups of 10x10x10x10), and it was still quite responsive in PL - even at 16bpc. The file size was under 1mb even - while the PS version was 16mb.
Anyway, these kind of nerdy geek tests have little purpose or meaning in themselves, of course. For kicks I went up to 50000 layers, and at that point Photoline began to become very unresponsive, taking 20 seconds or so before I could do anything. Which makes sense.
So what is the actual layer limit? Is there any, or is it limited by memory and cpu power only?
What is the actual number of layers limit in Photoline?

Yes, I think it can be eeeeeasily done....
Just take everything out on Highway 61.

Re: What is the actual number of layers limit in Photoline?
I don't know, if there is an theoretical limit on layers in PhotoLine. But sooner or later it is just too much for the computer and this will happen way before you reach 10.000 layers if you really work on an image
It depends also on the adjustmentlayers you use. Some of these are not easy to compute, for example the blurr-layers with high values.
Since PhotoLine seems to be a program, which doesn't need more power with newer versions, it is getting faster over the years because of the increased speed of new computers. Some other programs need that additional speed for new features, which have no effect on the images, but let the new program-version look "cool".

There is no hard limit. The only limit is the available memory.Herbert123 hat geschrieben:So what is the actual layer limit? Is there any, or is it limited by memory and cpu power only?
I have a vector graphics file here with nearly 30000 layers, and it is quite usable.
