Hello,
I tried to open some OpenEXR's MultiLayer generated by Blender in PhotoLine but the depth pass is always pure black. Same with the object and material index passes. Other passes seem to work OK.
Did anybody managed to open those passes in PhotoLine?

Re: Blender MultiLayer OpenEXR depth pass problem
Hello, The depth pass or 'Z' pass in blender is a data only pass that is processed in the compositor - it is used to modify certain effects nodes like "Defocus" to create Depth of Field etc. It can also be used to generate a grayscale depth pass.... ( see image below) . Also, the 'z' pass is used at the 'time of render' because object location has to be considered for it to work.

Re: Blender MultiLayer OpenEXR depth pass problem
Hello,
I finally had some time to dig into it. I made a sample scene with all the render passes that can you render in Cycles engine. There is no problem with all the color passes but as jdcooke wrote the data passes don't work at all.
Those passes are completely black:
depth pass (z pass)
IndexMA
IndexOB
Mist
UV pass - this one needs a specific tool, don't see a reason to support it in PL
Vector pass (speed) - this one needs a specific tool, don't see a reason to support it in PL
The only data pass with some values is the Normal pass - but it shows only the Y channel (green channel).
You can have a look at the files here:
https://drive.google.com/folderview?id= ... sp=sharing
It is possible to save each data pass as a single-layer OpenEXR and than it works but it would be great if PL could open the data passes directly.

Re: Blender MultiLayer OpenEXR depth pass problem
Although I don´t use Blender, I use Thearender and Cinema4D I can save the z depth channel without problem, could you try to make only the Z channel active and save that one specific? maybe just a plane and a cube.
Cheers,
Juan
