Yes, actualy somewhat equivalent of union. Just except it merges non-sense even there are open paths etc. There is no change in shape.
bkh hat geschrieben:Actually, I think it is buggy if non-closed paths are involved
Not a bug I think. Reason looks like the way PL handles and reads vectors. All softwares have their own characteristics. My problem in real life design examples is, even when I think that I merged/welded vectors to create a shape, actually it is not. If path close command will take all vectors in "a layer" together, it can be usefull. Sometimes you can not understand they glued or not. You must to click and drag to check. And not logic for a design with many hundreds of control points etc. etc.

And for corel, I'm not a fan of it. I use it only for the CNC machine since obligated. Not my stuff. Corel is with the power of a bear in vectors but designing speed and easiness of PL is far far better. Just you can not weld the complex designs ;)

I still think it's strange behaviour and filed a bug report on this (http://www.pl32.com/forum3/viewtopic.ph ... =30#p30461). In the end, it's up to the developers to decide, anyway.

"Merge Vector Layers" is not the same as "Union" – the former just places different vector objects together in a layer as separate subpaths. Btw., "Union" can also be used to form one vector object from overlapping subpaths in a single layer.

I've just reported that "close path" only works on the last subpath. Imo, it should work on all selected subpaths.

Burkhard.

greenmorpher hat geschrieben:Master pages do not necessarily do anything in 5. Depends on the app. They certainly don't do indices and TOC, that is done by other parts of the app, and headers and footers, of course, do not rely on master pages since the most feeble word processor can do them and they do not have master pages.
I can see that you haven't read my post carrefully. What I ment was that you can DEFINE master pages for indices, TOC, and so on. Yes, they ABSOLUTELLY can not do TOC and indices.

God bless your SSD :) , but I need PL to run from USB because that way I can do my job at client's place just in front of him and I don't want to copy/install PL on his computer at all. And working with three or more programs via USB... it is nightmare. That's the reason I need a Swiss knife.

They would have to hire a dozen or two dozen people.
As I can see, you are programer, and...
greenmorpher hat geschrieben:The final nail in the coffin for your call for a DTP program that would be the equivalent of current PL with every function of InDesign added is that few would buy it. That was/is a problem for Canvas in the end! The integrated program market was/is too small. People have been sucked into "the standard" -- the Adobe bundle.
...a marketing expert too. :)

Let's leave the whole thing off and let Huber brothers decide what they will add in the future. It is ours to say what we want, and theirs to listen to us, or not.

@connection to my previous post

And can you image what the feeling is if you have only one program for all you need for your business? And you have it with you all the time, wherever you go? And with an Adobe interface with PS shortcuts? And running from USB? A bull's eye.

WHY NOT???

I did read our post carefully. The problem was that you did not say what you now are saying. And what I was saying is that you don’t need master pages to define indices, TOC, etc.

The alternative is to do what I do -- have everything on your laptop and take that with you to your client's place to do your job. Much tobe preferred over working on what might be an inadequate computer and screen.

Nope -- I am not a programmer. But I have been close to several small software operations and continue close to one and I have an idea of the limitations that apply. In fact, you are telling the Huber Bros to duplicate the work of several large Adobe teams. Nobody needs tobe a programmer to know that is not going to work.

Yes, I am a marketing expert and I have worked in the software field. You clearly are not and have not.

True, but I am sure they can do without being told to transform their tight little app into a behemoth.
