Is there a way to scale text using its box controls?

Hi,

I wanted to scale text using its box controls but suchs only change the size of the text box, not that inside of it.
I made a cheat converting the text box into a group, scaling and un-grouping after that. The text remained editable but its size and character width did not match with the values showed in the tool settings, additionally, I got a "beep" every time I edit the scaled text.
Is there a better way to do it?

I got bitten by that, too.

The thing to do is use the Layer Tool (Q) and either hold down the Ctrl key or select the "gear" icon in its settings to access its extended function:

When you move the cursor to one of the corner handles of the text object's bounding box, pay close attention and when the cursor changes to a double-sided arrow you can drag the bounding box to resize the text.

Just use the Menu Bar > Layer > Scale Layer. Then you can do it by measurement or percentage. The type will still show as the original size given to it, however.

Brilliant! No more "beeps". I tried it thousands of times before but I got distortions instead, I did not watch the arrows.

However, the Tool Settings did not change. For testing I created a 12px word, then I scaled it, even when the text was larger, the tool setting kept 12px, then I change it to 8px (also 14px) and the size changed the but not to real 8px, instead, to a proportional size of 12px plus the scale.

I do not know if I am missing a step, the scale factor can be seen in other place or it is something PL may include in the future.
