The Guides panel can use mathematical formulas for the placement, which is great. For example, entering
(w/2)-0.25in Vertical
(w/2)+0.25in Vertical
will create a 0.5in gutter centered and running vertically.
However, when saving such a Guides setup as a preset, PL does not save the Guides placement as the entered formulas but rather as the converted pixel values for the active image/page. This means the saved preset cannot be used for images/pages with different dimensions.
If the Guides presets would save the entered formulas, those presets could be easily re-used on any image or page.

Re: Req: Save Guides presets as formulas
+1.
I guess that a few points need extra consideration:
• What happens if you drag a guide with a formula? Probably formulas only make sense if the guide lines are locked.
• I guess that the formulas need to be re-evaluated for each page (since page sizes can vary).
• formulas with ranges would be nice
– something like {1..9}/10*w (vertical) would divide the page into 10 equal columns by creating 9 guides.

Re: Req: Save Guides presets as formulas
Simply delete the formula from the current guides panel value because a dragged guide is no longer determined by that formula. Replace the deleted formula with the pixel value of the guide's new location, as is done now. This would obviously not affect a saved guide preset.bkh hat geschrieben: +1.

Sure, but that's the beauty of using a formula with a general variable such as width -- the formula works for pages or images of varying sizes.bkh hat geschrieben: • I guess that the formulas need to be re-evaluated for each page (since page sizes can vary).
Oh, yeah! Now you're talking "awesome"!bkh hat geschrieben: • formulas with ranges would be nice– something like {1..9}/10*w (vertical) would divide the page into 10 equal columns by creating 9 guides.
