Action: Colour Cast Correction

Beitrag von photoken »

There's an old Photoshop trick to remove a colour cast that I mentioned a long time ago:
  1. Duplicate the image.
  2. Apply a Blur...Calculate Average to the duplicated image.
  3. Add a Curves adjustment layer above that averaged, duplicated image.
  4. Use the Gray Point eyedropper in the Curves layer to set the averaged image to a medium gray.
  5. Hide (or delete) that averaged, duplicated layer so the Curves adjustment layer now is applied to the original image.
The current discussion about the new DeHaze filter got me to working on colour cast corrections, so for the sake of convenience, I thought I'd share the action I had made to automate that Photoshop trick. Here's the action:
Colour Cast Correction.actions
When you run the action, it will pause at the Curves adjustment dialog. Use the Gray Point eyedropper to click in the left side of the image panel to set the gray point:
CCC action Curves.jpg
Enjoy!
