Yes, I completely agree about the scrollbars in the main editing window. Not having them as part of the dark interface kind of defeats the purpose of trying to not have distracting colours when working on images.
If you're talking about the sliders and up/down comboboxes such as are found in the Curves dialog, I don't mind the current colours; in fact, they are nicely obvious which is what I want when adjusting a setting.

Good. PL is excellent in many fields, albeit a little unintuitive here and there. On the quality side I don't like the jpg plug in (Web Export window) which produces too visible artifacts around the text when this is on flat colors. Many years ago it was typical of the jpg compression but nowdays other programs perform better.

I would love an option to control output options per layer. We can already select layers, and export those in any file format, but I would like layer specific output settings for optimization and file format, so the entire thing can be exported in on go. Something like Photoshop's Generator.iosoio hat geschrieben:Good. PL is excellent in many fields, albeit a little unintuitive here and there. And I wish jpeg would finally be replaced with WebP. Jpeg is OLD and far better optimization algorithm are readily available. If only Firefox would begin to support webp.

Are you sure you compare different Jpgs of comparable size here? Would be an interesting topic to check that. If it was a colorful text: Did you enable "high quality"?iosoio hat geschrieben:...On the quality side I don't like the jpg plug in (Web Export window) which produces too visible artifacts around the text when this is on flat colors. I use High Quality and usually 75%. Compression is good but there's always a ringing effect surrounding the characters. I use it even if I don't know what High Quality means: if it relates to the DCT computation, the subsampling factor or what else. I only hope it's not about the Huffman table. Also the png export is very slow but this doesn't affect the quality.Hoogo hat geschrieben:Are you sure you compare different Jpgs of comparable size here? High Quality means 4:4:4 subsampling (full resolution colour) vs. 4:2:0 subsampling (colour at half the resolution).iosoio hat geschrieben:High Quality means: if it relates to the DCT computation, the subsampling factor or what else. I only hope it's not about the Huffman table.
PNG export seems to use the highest PNG compression. If you just save your image as PNG and use the "best packed" option, file sizes and compression times are similar to what you get from web export. I guess this makes sense for web images.iosoio hat geschrieben:Also the png export is very slow but this doesn't affect the quality.

P.S. Wouldn't it make sense to move this discussion to a separate thread – I guess it's quite unrelated to Alternativo.

Hi. Perhaps you wanted to say "Fast Packed". This effectively returns a file a little larger but the process is fast.bkh hat geschrieben:PNG export seems to use the highest PNG compression. I agree we're drifting off the topic.bkh hat geschrieben:P.S. Wouldn't it make sense to move this discussion to a separate thread – I guess it's quite unrelated to Alternativo.

123,
Once again, my compliments on your description of the features -- that's a difficult task to choose the features from all that are available in PL given the length limitations, and you've done it well!
One thing I'd suggest is to remove the "New in v 19" line. There's no way of telling where the new features end and where the previous features begin. I suspect that most people coming to that site aren't aware of previous features, anyway, so that distinction isn't very important on that site.
