Req: Automatic straightening and crop
A nice enhancement to the Straighten tool would be an automatic straighten and crop -- double-clicking on the Straighten icon would analyze the image and make a best guess for the straightening and also crop the result.

Oh, ken, please not! That sounds like unnecessary bloat to me.

This enhancement would be especially nice when scanning many documents. Not having to drag out the line on each scan would save time, for sure.

Why don't you use Layout -> Image -> Straighten and Crop Image?photoken hat geschrieben:A nice enhancement to the Straighten tool would be an automatic straighten and crop -- double-clicking on the Straighten icon would analyze the image and make a best guess for the straightening and also crop the result.

Re: Req: Automatic straightening and crop
Because I didn't realize it existed!bkh hat geschrieben:Why don't you use Layout -> Image -> Straighten and Crop Image?
Now that I've tested that feature, I found that it leaves an artifact around the borders of the image: That artifact doesn't happen when using the Straighten tool....
If the code already exists to do the straighten and crop, and the artifact problem can be corrected, then using that function when double-clicking on the Straighten tool's icon would be excellent.

Re: Req: Automatic straightening and crop
Another test reveals that that feature can result in an unusable image.bkh hat geschrieben: Why don't you use Layout -> Image -> Straighten and Crop Image?
Here's the original: Layout...Image...Straighten and Crop gives this result: The Straighten tool gives this:

Re: Req: Automatic straightening and crop
this function is intended to be used to remove unwanted borders of a scan. It can't detect contents like the horizon in your picture.
