Photoline vs *.hdr

Beitrag von Qwerty »

Does Photoline support hdr format? It does not seem to open any of my hdr files. Do I need to convert to OpenEXR first or is there another solution?

Sorry for the foolish question - there is whole list of supported formats in the open file dialog. Anyway if someone googles this thread here is the answer: Photoline does not support *.hdr format.

As a blanket statement, that is just plain wrong. I downloaded the "Meadow" HDR image from this site:
http://hdrmill.com/Freebies.htm
and PL opened it just fine.

I don´t know how you did it but here is not working and PL has never be able to open HDR files, only exr ones.
I´m using the latest beta and this is what I get:
hdr.jpg
I´m also interested on opening HDR in PL, I bet the developers can take a look if there is enough interest from the user to implement HDR into PL.

Cheers,
Juan

PhotoLine has no hdr-Import, EXR only.
But if you have a WIC import installed, it's possible that PhotoLine uses this to load the image.

Interesting. I stand corrected.

I have no idea how to check which WIC components are installed. The HDR images show as thumbnails in Windows Explorer, so perhaps the WIC component for HDR images is part of the FastPictureViewer codecpack....

Confirmed, I also have the FastPictureCodec installed, and HDR images load up just fine in Photoline.

Though it would be nice if PL could open and also SAVE to HDR formatted files for further use in 3d applications and VFX.
