In particular, the RT development team has a member who has been doing extensive work on implementing wavelet processing, and the results are superbly useful (and adjustable with live preview) de-noise and sharpening capabilities. Their processing times are very quick, too. I'm not saying that wavelets are always the best solution, but it's great to have them as another tool in the arsenal.
Set up RT as an external program with TIF as the image type and "Ask". (Using "Ask" will allow you to either use RT directly on an original RAW image, or on an individual non-RAW layer in the PL stack.)
I recommend the following workflow for non-RAW images: if your image is 8-bit, first convert it to 16-bit TIF to avoid any potential problems with artifacts being created, then open the layer (or image) in RT and have some fun!
