Abstract Curves -- an intriguing plugin

I just found an interesting tool for generating abstract images

which works just fine as a plugin with PL -- but the installation has a slight problem:

Installing the 64-bit version allows specifying both the plugin directory and the standalone program directory, but running it as a PL plugin generates an error about its DLL not being found. What I had to do was re-install over the existing installation and then copy the acplugin64.dll from the program's directory into my plugins folder. (The 8bf plugin file was correctly installed into my plugins folder.)

With both those files in my plugins folder, the AC plugin works great:

For this sample, I tested the plugin by first creating a new, transparent layer, then applying the AC plugin to that layer. I added a Hue/Saturation child layer to the effects layer to modify the colour and intensity and also used the move tool on that layer to distort the effects layer.

I did all that just to test some extreme situations, and it worked just fine. I'm not sure I'll purchase the thing, but it sure can generate some interesting "gauzy" effects....

Thanks for the heads-up. I am a big fan of FilterForge, and ordinarily most filters out there can be replaced by a FilterForge version - but this one looks genuinely different. When I find the time next week, I will check it out.

By the way, the 'subject' of your sample images I have seen from you so far seems remarkably consistent across the board

Just tried it out. Installation is simplified by opening the installation file with an extraction tool such 7-zip, and just grabbing the following files, and move them to the plugins folder:

- AbstractCurves_X64.8bf
- acplugin64.dll

This will work for the 64bit version of Photoline. No need to install anything. If you wish to work with the standalone version, also grab the AbstractCurves_x64.exe file. The DLL file must be present in the same folder.
