Some of the tools have a Source option (in English) that was initially confusing to me: "Until Active Layer". After some experimenting, I confirmed that this means the source is all layers beneath the active layer.
Perhaps the English version would be better translated as "Below Active Layer" or "Beneath Active Layer".
The tools using this source option are:
Copy brush
Healing brush
Patch tool
Remove brush

No, the source includes the active layer as well, so "below" and "beneath" don't fit either.

Not sure. These arrows are barely visible and easily overlooked, compared to the following arrow indicating the drop-down menu (at least on OS X). Since the entry needs to be short, I'd prefere "Active and below", even if it's not fully visible.
