'Magnetic' lasso?

In Photoshop there is a type of lasso called the 'magnetic' lasso, which automatically collapses around a dark or light area in an image to select it. Is there an equivalent type of lasso or lasso setting in Photoline? Thanks

I don't know what the PS tool is actually doing, in PL there's a magnetic lasso that follows contrast lines. It's in the toolbar in the button just with all the other lasso tools.

Yes, as Hoogo states, the equivalent is the "Automatic Lasso" tool in Photoline. Shift-L

Click a boundary to start, then pull the mouse cursor over the light-dark areas. To fix a lasso segment, click. It works more or less the same compared to Photoshop. Tolerance can be set in the tool settings.

I can't make the Automatic Lasso operate differently than the Free Lasso. It doesn't collapse around an area or conform to edges. I've tried everything I can think of, but apparently I'm missing something. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Some ideas:
-You do not drag along the edges, you click and release for a start, then move the mouse without holding the button.
-Is the tolerance big enough?

Just pull it along? Phooey! KEEP CLICKING!!! When you think it has done a good job shaping itself to a piece of the path, click! Then drag again. If you need the lasso to turn right at 90 degrees, CLICK! And so on. Until you click, the lasso path is fluid and will keep changing shape along its length until you click, and how it fits the early part of its length can be influenced by what is in the late part of its length.

So my message is to click and keep clicking to keep the path pieces short!

Note that if you click in the wrong spot, you can go back to the previous click point by hitting DELETE.

Double click to close it.

If you want a really good, clean edge, be prepared to work at high magnification and to do some work with the eraser or whatever afterwards.

I'm new PL but as per any software 'automatic' can only guess at what you are trying to achieve. I use the free lasso at a high magnification to avoid a lot of clean up later.
