Understanding PL

I have a 'technical' question about how PL is working!!!

Filter/Digital Camera/ Light/Shadow. I get all sorts of 'strange' results. None are ever what I'm looking for. I simply want to know how PL gets its results or what is the theory behind PL's choice of settings.

Is it possible to have a future version that has a provision for resetting every setting back to 0%? Rather than having to reset each option manually.

Yes, I'd be interested in that, too, starting with the Light/Shadow adjustment.

Learning to use PL effectively involves a lot of trial-and-error, and it would be great to have a global "JustGetMeOutOfTheHoleIDugMyselfInto" button.

A "reset all" option would be nice for the adjustment layers. But I don't think any other software offers something like that either. Excepting RAW developers, of course.

In other image editors it is pretty much the same situation: you make a mess, you'll have to clean it up yourself, or start over.

But there's a reset button just left of the OK button in the filter dialogues? With shift it resets to the old values of a layer, and without shift it resets to default values.

Yeah, but we're talking about a "nuclear" option to reset everything....

No. A global default button is not what I'm on a about. That's derailing my thread. Simple good save habits can get you out of trouble with most software. Other software, such as PSP, has a default/Reset option on most of is features. This post is only about the Filters/Digital Camera feature.

If I open a photo I may get something like - Shadow Width 0% and Gamma 31%. And Light Width 5% and Gamma 24%. What ever PL comes up with never looks good to my eyes. So I want to reset them all to 0%. A simple little button that will get me 0% on all settings. This will more than likely defeat the purpose of the feature but it gives me another method of making adjustments. Especially to Shadow Width.
I would also like to know how PL arrives at the % numbers for each photo.

I find the Filters/Digital Camera feature easier to use than going down the Adjustment layer route. Yes I know the benefits of Adjustment Layers but in this case I prefer the other method.

Duh. Er ah er Duh. I'll blame it on old age. Yes there is a Reset button there. Serves me right to try and work while watching sport on TV.

Still like to know how PL arrives at the settings though.

Ah,I remember faintly that there was a little discussion about the default values for that filter when it was introduced. Most filters strat with the last used values, but this one starts with some automatic ones (if I remember correctly).
