Funny thing with PS

Beitrag von Juan »

Hi all,

In order to check the compatibility of some PS files in PL I decided to install my very old PS Elements 7 on my comp, but to my surprise the serial was invalid, so I contacted adobe support and they told me that I HAVE to upgrade to a newer version in order to use my license... sorry but wtf, as far as I know the pre-cloud thingy the licenses are permanents but nooooo I have to give them more money just because I want to use my old version, no thanks. :x
Another reason (really heavy) to be faithful to PL :D

Cheers,
Juan

That sounds like you have had an over-zealously support member from Adobe support on the phone - as far as I am aware, that answer is illegal: once you purchased a full perpetual license, the company in question should honour that license, or provide an alternative. That is why Adobe provided CS2 for "free" to all CS1 and CS2 owners after deactivating their license servers for those versions.

I suppose you could download the CS2 version instead now ;-)

If you registered it with Adobe, the serial number is in your account. I have serial numbers back to both PageMaker 6 and PS 6. They both still work. Just in case the serial number wasn't recorded properly that is, it at least will show if there was a difference. Even the media disc for my PS 6, entering the SN still works. I haven't tried installing an old Elements disc I have (version 9 I think) that I got free with something or other.

The CS2 is a good option if it will install and work properly on your OS. I have saved a thread that an Adobe employee stated that anyone with even a prior version can legally install CS2 and use the SN provided for it.

Yeps, it´s a shitty thing from adobe.. but you know what, they can put that money you know where.
I copied my SN from my adobe portal but nothing, and the representative had the last word, I have to pay.

I didn´t know about the CS2, thank you both.

Cheers,
Juan
