Does a meta data change also re-save the image file?

Beitrag von Herbert123 »

Just curious: how does PhotoLine's browser deal with this? When I add or change a metadata entry using the browser , does it only update the metadata part of an image file, or is the entire image data replaced as well?

AFAIK the complete image with the updated metadata will be saved, like it is done with EXIFTOOL. But the image data will not be touched or modified.

Yes, thank you. I checked against file sizes and a jpg's pixel data comparison of the before and after versions, and as far as I can tell only the metadata is updated and the image data itself is left alone.
