Hey guys, I've got a question about internal representation of layers, and if there is a way to compress them.
I have a many-layer PLD document that is large enough (> 200MB) that it is giving PL difficulties on my feeble old PC. Most of the layers are either lossless PNG or TIFF.
What I would like to do is compress each PNG or TIFF layer to JPG or similar lossy format, to reduce the overall size of the PLD document, while preserving all the layer structure and the Alpha channels, and leaving Vector layers unchanged. I understand that this will entail a reduction in image quality.
A primitive way of doing this by hand would be, for each layer, to copy, paste as document, save as JPG, close, reopen, paste back into the original image. But that would take a long time, and I'd lose the Alpha channel.
Any ideas?

Re: Layer compression to reduce document size
PhotoLine usually compresses images using ZIP (PNG) because it is lossless. However, you can also change this to JPEG. To do so, go to “Layout > Image > JPEG Compression.”
You can see the compression in the Layer Attributes:

Re: Layer compression to reduce document size
By the way, “Layout > Image > JPEG Compression.” works only if layer bit depth is set to 8 bit. It could be nice it this tool automatically change bit depth when compress 16 or 32 bit layers.
It also could be nice to compress multiple selected layers. Currently “Layout > Image > JPEG Compression.” works only with single layer.
