Invert layer mask

1. Duplicated Background layer

2. Auto mask sky and Create mask from Alpha

3. Selected FYC Duplicate layer then added Curves layer

4. Duplicated Curves layer

How would I invert the mask of the Curves Duplicate ?

I think you're looking for "tool > color > Invert (ALT+I)"

You want to adjust background and foreground separately? Beware of semitransparent edges, they can become more visible than expected. If you get problems with the edges, try some "real" separation of foreground and background.
