Vector Gradient

Small image size to create icon for CAD program.

Click on Color Gradient and a Vector layer is created ... and not sure why.
First time I have seen this circled gradient type.

Just trying to understand why this pops up today, and it never had before.

If the marked icon (In active Layer) is not selected, you will get a new layer.

Please tell me what determines the type of gradient that is drawn.
Not sure how I sometimes get the different types.

One has a circle for adjustment vs just one straight line.
