Geo-Tagging, Anyone?

Seems that Geo-Tagging photos with tracks from GPS units is quite popular these days. I use some 3rd-party programs to do this.

Compared to all the other marvelous things that Photoline can do, it wouldn't be all that difficult to add in a GeoTagging function, would it?

Dump your Garmin (or other mfg.) track-log into your photo folder (or copies of it into the most recent photo folders, or maybe even a default "Geotagging Track Log Files" folder?), and if you have PhotoLine set to "Auto-GeoTag" then every time you open a photo it will automatically scan the track-logs for the nearest EXIF exposure stamp and append the lattitude and longitude coordinates to that photo. (Or as a batch process feature).

I use XnView as my browser and it will open a GPS-tagged file in GeoHack, but you have to use another program to tag the file's GPS location (I use Picasa). It would be nice to be able to use PhotoLine to tag files, so, yeah, I'll raise my hand.

Hi,

I use Geosetter since two years for geotagging. It's free, easy to use and extremly powerful.

I don't think it's necessary to implement such a function in Photoline.

I heard CS5 is going to implement this feature as a built-in function later this year. I wouldn't want to see my favorite editor being bested by "that other" program. It would just give them something to brag about.

From my point of view geotagging in an grafic application is like driving a nail into the wall ... ...using a gripper
