Automatic correction filter

I wonder what others' experience is in using he Automatic Correction filter on their photographs.

It adjusts white balance, corrects color, and adjusts brightness. I'm finding the white balance and color correction to be very good in most cases (obviously there is some stuff that doesn't suit the automatic balance because you actually want a bias), but I'm finding the automatic brightness to be just too bright and washed out. Now obviously that can be adjusted with the Histogram tool, but it wojld be great if the brightness change was turned down a bit in the automatic mode.

In addition, it would be good, for simple workflow, to have a single slider brightness adjuster, and probably a single slider contrast adjuster, added to the Digital Camera bunch of filters.

Thoughts?

Well, to be honest, I find the automatic correction filter to be very much helpful in most cases. In fact, I find it more practical and productive than manual correction. The change in color correction, brightness adjustment and white balance all are very much in accordance with the corresponding photograph.
